Fleeing Breslau, Else Tischler took her husband Heinrich’s painting tools from his studio. Among them were eight boxes of Lukas brand paints, a company which still exists today. The painter used the intense color palette seen here: sienna, ochre, intense yellow and orange, ultramarine and sea green.
